Jensen Ackles – who rose to recognition as Supernatural’s Dean Winchester – joined the star-studded cast of The Boys as Solider Boy, the paragon of an ‘alpha male,’ in season 3. But out of all his friends, the one who was the most thrilled about the news was his on-screen father from the CW fantasy horror, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Morgan and Ackles share an unshakeable bond, one which is widely known along with their bromance, of course. But when it comes to professionalism, Ackles won’t yield to even his best friend with whom he shares a matching tattoo.

Jensen Ackles Refused to Spoil The Boys For Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Jensen Ackles’ depiction of the vehemently arrogant and violent Soldier Boy in Eric Kripke’s The Boys has often been commended by fans. The Supernatural star reunited with Kripke – who is also the creator of the CW fantasy drama – during season 3 of the dark superhero comedy.

Turns out, Kripke had been trying to get Ackles’ Supernatural co-star on the Emmy-nominated show for a while now. But alas, nothing of the sort materialized back then. The Watchmen star’s interest in the Prime Video drama, however, remained unquenched.

So, when Morgan discovered Ackles’ casting as Soldier Boy, he did the next best thing and approached his on-screen son (they played father-son in Supernatural) for the all juicy details. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Winchesters star revealed how Morgan, 58, would relentlessly prod him for The Boys‘ spoilers.

“He kept texting me for updates [while I was] on set,” Ackles says. “He was like, ‘Give me spoilers.’ And I was like, ‘No, stop it.’ He’s very convincing.”

But Ackles, 46, refused to budge despite Morgan’s unrivaled convincing powers.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Finally Joins The Boys

Back in 2020, Kripke offered Morgan a role in the satirical black comedy via what was then known as Twitter after The Walking Dead star complimented The Boys. “I’ll make you a deal,” Kripke posted at the time. “Season 3. I’ll write it, and if you’re avail, come shoot it!” And Morgan’s reply was “In a heartbeat!” (via Entertainment Weekly).

Until now, Morgan – thanks to his scheduling conflicts – was left with no other choice but to admire the show from a distance. But the upcoming season of The Boys will finally introduce the actor who had been longing to partake in it.

In the new season of The Boys, Morgan’s character appears to have been embroiled in the past of Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher with the season 4 promotional poster declaring them as “Two peas in a diabolical pod (via CBR).

The Boys season 4 is ready to roll with its first episode set to premiere on Prime Video on June 13, 2024.
